The changing paradigms of security threats have brought focus on interlinked security breaches and the need for a holistic security management system. This discussion will focus on the convergence of physical and cyber security and the emerging technologies that can address interlinked breaches. It will also examine the issue of cross-functional teams owning up to the response initiatives for coordinated physical and cyber attacks and detail why tight partnerships are required for successful security policy implementation.
The topic and data presented during this discussion come from a recently completed study done in partnership with Honeywell Labs. This Honeywell “Enterprise Threat Management & Security Convergence” benchmarking study was conducted through personal interviews and online surveys between April 5, 2007 and August 23, 2007. This report and the results are based on responses of more than 50 Chief Information Officers, Chief Security Officers, and Chief Information & Security Officers of U.S.-based global companies with revenues ranging from $1 billion to more than $100 billion and belonging to various sectors such as Pharma, Healthcare, Banking & Insurance, Manufacturing, IT, Telecom, Consulting, Academic Institutions, Mining, etc.
