The Internet threat landscape continues to challenge your company’s information with increasingly complex and sophisticated attacks. This is making it even more important for you to have access to global threat intelligence that can assist you in making informed decision on how best to protect your company’s assets.
Today’s webcast will cover highlights from the recently published white paper, Symantec Report on the Underground Economy (November 2008) – an area that was identified as one of the major threat trends in the Symantec Internet Security Threat Report Volume XIII released April, 2008.
The Underground Economy is geographically diverse and shows the ability to generate millions of dollars in revenue for cybercriminals. It is a self-sustaining system where tools that aid in fraud and theft can be purchased and the stolen information obtained by those tools can then be sold. This report examines activity on underground economy servers observed by Symantec between July 1st, 2007 and June 30th, 2008.
At the end of the session, you will have an understanding of *Some of the more notable groups involved *Major advertisers on the underground economy *Servers and channels that have been identified as hosts for trading *How software piracy uses a file-sharing protocol in the public domain
