Northwest Credit Union Chooses BioPassword for Cost-Effective Multi-Factor Authentication
(Feb 12, 2007)--BioPassword, a software company providing secure authentication and anti-fraud solutions based on the behavioral biometric of keystroke dynamics, said that First Tech Credit Union is deploying BioPassword Internet Edition to authenticate online users by the rhythm of their typing. First Tech boasts more than 150,000 members at 15 branches throughout the Pacific Northwest and is deploying BioPassword to ensure secure access while complying with new FFIEC guidelines.
With nearly 17,000 Microsoft employees among its membership, First Tech manages highly sensitive financial information. With the increased adoption of both banking and security threats online, the credit union faced the challenge of maintaining its commitment to protecting its members without infringing on the convenience of online banking.
"Given our concentration of technically minded members, First Tech strives to provide the best and most innovative technology solutions on the market," said Joey Rudisill, CIO and vice president of IT at First Tech Credit Union. "We searched for a reliable security solution that also promoted accessibility and functionality. With BioPassword's software-only solution, we are providing an additional security layer without being intrusive to our members."
BioPassword Internet Edition monitors and enforces authentication of online users based on a simple, yet powerful combination of the user's standard login credentials (userID and password). With BioPassword Internet Edition, organizations, like First Tech, can quickly and easily implement secure access, while complying with regulatory requirements and substantially reducing fraud. BioPassword offers a significant improvement with true two-factor biometric authentication that does not require specialized hardware.
"We are excited that First Tech is joining BioPassword's growing customer base of financial institutions using our unique software for secure authentication," said Dean Bravos, vice president of worldwide channel sales at BioPassword. "As a highly respected credit union that serves many prominent, well-informed technology executives, First Tech's decision to deploy BioPassword is a great validation of our solution's strengths and capabilities."
