NetPro and Centrify Partner to Enable Cost-Effective Compliance and Access Control Across the Enterprise
(March 28, 2007)--NetPro Computing, provider of infrastructure management solutions, announced a partnership with Centrify Corporation, provider of Microsoft Active Directory-based auditing, access control and identity management solutions for non-Microsoft platforms including UNIX, Linux, Mac and J2EE environments. This new partnership enables customers to address cross-platform compliance and security requirements in a cost-effective manner leveraging their existing Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure across the enterprise.
The NetPro and Centrify partnership enables customers to achieve heterogeneous integration with Linux, UNIX, and Mac systems as well as Java/J2EE-based web applications through Active Directory while ensuring that the extended platform is available, secure and compliant. The partnership delivers value to customers by supporting interoperability in the following key areas:
Compliance and Audit -- Log consolidation and log-in/log-off auditing, enhanced security policy management and enforcement and compliance reporting. For example, NetPro ChangeAuditor and LogADmin provide detailed real-time forensics and archiving of Windows event logs, including key security events such as successful and failed log-in attempts. Centrify DirectControl writes successful and failed log-in attempts for all DirectControl-enabled systems back to the Domain Controller log files for processing by LogADmin. Working together, the two solutions allow customers to report on who has accessed what sensitive systems, whether they are Windows, UNIX, Linux or Macs, thereby satisfying auditor requirements.
Identity and Access Management -- Self-provisioning and password reset, as well as access control for Windows and non-Windows platforms. For example, Centrify DirectControl makes a user's Active Directory account the enterprise account across multiple platforms. NetPro SelfServiceADmin lets users self-reset that same account's password, and it creates a detailed audit trail for IT staff. The two solutions allow them to reduce helpdesk workload and enhance end-user productivity while improving the overall security of their environment.
Infrastructure Optimization -- Server administration, configuration and policy management, and health and availability reporting. For example, Centrify DirectControl delivers the only solution on the market that extends Active Directory Group Policy to the Mac environment as well as UNIX/Linux. NetPro GPOAdmin manages Group Policies, including the cross-platform extensions provided by Centrify. Together, they provide the ability to manage and extend Active Directory Group Policy across multiple platforms.
As part of this partnership, NetPro and Centrify will be delivering education webinars on how to address Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and other regulations using Active Directory as the central foundation for compliance. The partners will also demonstrate the interoperability between their best-of-breed solutions.
