New TouchNet Product is Designed to Thwart Hackers
Seek-N-Secure software and service finds data
campuses didn’t even know exists
LENEXA, Kan. (Oct. 23, 2007) — TouchNet Information Systems today launched Seek-N-Secure, the company’s newest combination of service and technology that guards universities and colleges from data breeches. Seek-N-Secure helps protect the tens of thousands of records exposed every month in the United States, and ensure PCI compliance for colleges and universities.
Seek-N-Secure finds unprotected hidden data that campuses don’t even know exists. The data, which is desired by hackers, includes Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as credit card numbers, bank account information and social security numbers. Seek-N-Secure is a confidential service that enables campuses to identify payment points throughout campus, develop a compliance strategy, and leverage patent-pending, “heat-seeking” software to find, isolate and protect highly sensitive data.
“What you don’t know can hurt you. That is especially true within the campus environment. Institutions of higher education can do all the right things in preparing for PCI compliance, and still be highly vulnerable to the loss of sensitive, personal information,” said Dan Toughey, president of TouchNet Information Systems. “Like other TouchNet programs, the bottom line is that Seek-N-Secure improves business practices and makes campus environments secure.”
Colleges and universities continuously improve data security and compliance with industry rules and regulations. Securing systems that store or handle sensitive data is an important step. However it doesn’t address the data accumulated over the years in cyber nooks and crannies throughout the campus computing environment. Seek-N-Secure, tailored for all universities, is a unique solution for finding and fixing PII. The process combines confidential services and software that can find potentially sensitive files, and help identify business practices that contribute to the accumulation of that data.
“Seek-N-Secure helps protect universities from data breeches,” Toughey said. “But, more importantly, it protects college and university reputations from being at serious risk.”
