European Executive Seminar Series on Software Security and Vulnerability Announced

(Nov 26, 2007)-- Ounce Labs announced that it will be hosting a complimentary executive seminar series on software security and vulnerability. The seminars, being held in Frankfurt on Wednesday, December 5th and in London on Friday, December 7th, will address best practices for application security. The executive seminars will also discuss protecting confidential information and verifying compliance with internal policies and industry regulations such as Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Top 10 list of the most serious Web application vulnerabilities.

As security standards and regulatory requirements continue to proliferate, companies around the world must establish application security best practices and take immediate steps to identify and eliminate the number one source of enterprise security vulnerabilities -- software applications. In fact, leading industry analyst firms report that approximately 75 percent of security attacks happen at the software application layer and by 2009 as many as 80 percent of all companies will have suffered an application security incident.

"The combination of attacks and data security regulations is raising awareness of source code security analysis on a worldwide basis," said David Curran, Vice President International Sales for Ounce Labs. "The threat environment has become increasingly hostile with more attacks aggressively targeting insecure software applications. Under these conditions, enterprises have the obligation to ensure source code is secure in order to maintain data privacy and operational integrity."

The keynote speaker will be Claudia Dent, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Ounce Labs. Claudia is a frequent speaker at industry events on IT security and software vulnerability best practices. Prior to Ounce Claudia held executive product management roles at IBM Rational Software Group.
