General Dynamics Selects BladeLogic for Data Center Compliance Assurance

(Feb 20, 2007)--General Dynamics, supplier of sophisticated defense systems to the United States and its allies, has selected portions of BladeLogic's award-winning suite of data center automation solutions to ensure continuous compliance to regulatory and operational polices across all of its data center environments.

General Dynamics will implement BladeLogic's Discovery and Compliance modules across all of its business units to ensure they fully comply with established corporate security policies based on standards from the Center for Internet Security (CIS) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and regulatory policies such as Sarbanes-Oxley, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). Using BladeLogic, General Dynamics will be able to automate the definition and documentation of policies that establish recommended configurations for servers and applications, and schedule regular scans of its server and application environments to track compliance with those policies.

"In order to comply with the necessary security, regulatory and operational requirements it is imperative we continually audit our server and application environments," said Tommy R. Augustsson, Vice President, Information Technology and Compensation, General Dynamics. "By doing so, we will be assured that our data center environments are continuously in compliance to the most stringent operational and regulatory policies."

"The increasing importance of and focus on IT compliance is driven by the need to ensure the security, availability and integrity of business-critical IT information systems. In today's environment, the need for organizations to maintain compliance to a number of different regulatory and operational policies is fundamental to running the business," said Dev Ittycheria, president & CEO, BladeLogic.
