Kanguru Solutions Awarded Contract to Supply Department of Veterans Affairs with Encrypted Flash Drives

(May 13, 2007)-- Kanguru Solutions announced that they have been chosen to fulfill the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) need for 25,000 encrypted USB flash drives.

Kanguru Solutions’ KanguruMicro Drive AES beat several competitors to be the secure flash drive of choice for the VA. The decision was based on several factors including Kanguru’s strong 256-bit AES encryption algorithm, ease of use, and the fact that it is FIPS 140-2 Certified.

“It has been our mission to address the security needs of our government customers, not only through FIPS 140-2 Certification, but also in our commitment to provide unique features and customization to meet the specific needs of each department or agency.” Said Nate Cote, VP of Product Management at Kanguru Solutions, adding, “as well as also meeting several compliancy needs of customers in the healthcare and financial industries.”

The KanguruMicro Drive AES is a key component to ensuring the data security of sensitive portable information within the VA. Data security has been a prominent issue lately, not only within the VA, but government wide, prompting last years OMB Memo M-06-16 (Protection of Sensitive Agency Information) on the topic.

“The VA is looking to become the Gold Standard of U.S. government agencies to comply with FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act), and the KanguruMicro Drive AES is a major step in doing that.” said Nate Cote.

In addition to utilizing high level, 256-bit encryption, the KanguruMicro Drive AES comes in capacities ranging between 256MB to 8GB and is available through GSA, SEWP and several other government procurement contracts.
