Provilla LeakProof 2.1 Boosts Privacy and Compliance Support

(May 15, 2007)-- Provilla, provider of ultra-accurate, intelligent endpoint solutions for data leak prevention,  released the latest version of its flagship LeakProof intelligent data leak prevention solution, which delivers enhanced privacy and compliance support for customers. Provilla LeakProof 2.1 adds new features to make it easier for organizations to ensure privacy and demonstrate compliance with a broad range of federal, state, and EU regulations.

Customers can speed their privacy and compliance policy implementation with LeakProof’s new pre-defined policy templates, which contain best-practice rule sets designed to address a variety of compliance initiatives such as Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), among others. Saving time and effort, these templates can be used out of the box or modified to fit an organization’s particular needs, such as deciding whether to audit the action, educate the user, or block the action.

Provilla LeakProof 2.1 includes additional intelligent validation modules that help reduce the possibility of false positives. The new modules can be used to verify ABA routing numbers, Canadian social security numbers, and Japanese JCB credit card data, in addition to the current validation of U.S. social security numbers and general credit card data. Provilla’s intelligent validation modules go beyond simple pattern recognition by actually verifying these entities to reduce false positives and enhance the user experience. Standard validation modules are being added continuously and are included in the annual subscription for LeakProof 2.1. Customized validation modules are also easily added for specific customer deployments.

LeakProof 2.1 also adds RapidScan™ for data-at-rest, which enhances Provilla’s unique on-demand endpoint scanning to enable administrators to rapidly obtain an up-to-date inventory of all sensitive documents, spreadsheets, databases and other files as defined by the organization’s policy. The RapidScan reports clearly show on which servers and endpoints this data resides and where the greatest risk points are.

Provilla LeakProof 2.1 also introduces new application programming interfaces and software developer kits designed to speed the integration of Provilla intelligent anti-leak agent and DataDNA™ server technology into third-party security solutions. Customers and partners can benefit from the LeakProof solution, which includes anti-leak agents and a DataDNA server.

The anti-leak agent intercepts any activity with the potential to move data off the endpoint, including attaching content or cutting and pasting it into an email message and sending it. Because it resides on the endpoint and contains its own policy-matching capability and signature database, it operates even when offline and no connection to the server is available. It can perform rapid detection of sensitive data using its own signature snapshot to monitor and prevent leakage to local devices, network interfaces, and network applications. In addition, the anti-leak agent can scan data before it is encrypted to determine if encryption is allowed.

Provilla’s DataDNA Server acts as the nerve center for anti-leak agents, providing information about policies and protected files. The server discovers relevant data on existing file servers, content management systems, and database engines, creating a patented array of fingerprints for each protected file – or DataDNA. It then passes a snapshot of DataDNA signatures and policies to the agents, where they detect unauthorized usage – even if the file has been heavily edited, rearranged, or split. Provilla’s patented DataDNA technology provides the industry’s highest levels of accuracy and performance for detecting sensitive data, resulting in the fewest false positives.
