Gladiator Technology Launches eSAT Online Security Awareness Training Program
(May 15, 2007)-- Gladiator Technology, a national managed security services provider (MSSP) exclusively serving community financial institutions, announced its Electronic Security Awareness Training program called eSAT. This new program is designed to efficiently assist financial institutions in complying with required provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) regarding periodic information security training for personnel.
Danny Johnston, president and CEO, says, “Gladiator’s eSAT is unique because on a granular level it provides a true education and validation of employee and customer training regarding information security. eSAT is a valuable tool that not only makes it easier for our clients to comply with GLBA provisions, but also provides an audit trail to ensure that personnel understand and accept that institution’s policies and procedures. By empowering bank personnel with the specific knowledge to effectively secure non-public confidential information, we are helping ensure account holder confidence in that institution’s products and services.”
Jackie Marshall, executive vice-president of regulatory compliance, adds, “eSAT is successful because users feel the material is truly relevant to their roles as bank employees. It is important to note that eSAT is customized for each institution’s policies and procedures. In the training, actual scenarios are presented that emphasize the valuable role each employee has in keeping non-public confidential information secure. The information security officer (ISO) can utilize the results of each user’s post-training questionnaire to fine tune training strategies and determine areas of knowledge ‘risk.’ It’s difficult to create an onsite training event that meets all the institution’s needs from an enterprise-wide perspective.”
According to Karen Crumbley, product manager for Gladiator, “Online training, like our eSAT program, is the most efficient solution today for providing an information security awareness education for employees. Not only can electronic training save an institution time and money, but it also has the added benefits of educating employees using the most up-to-date material and allowing the ISO to track courses and access by user.”
Crumbley adds that some of the important benefits unique to eSAT include:
* A customization feature allows each institution the opportunity to build in detail to training so as to support bank-specific needs.
* eSAT is online all the time; this convenience factor helps banks ensure 100% employee participation in training.
* An audit trail of test scores by user is available as proof that security training was done per GLBA requirements and to prove concepts were understood and accepted.
* eSAT is a “live document” that evolves right along with regulatory directives, industry standards, and best practices, so that information is always up-to-date.
* eSAT includes a Customer Training Section that supports recent FDIC guidance for incorporating procedures to educate customers on identity theft prevention.
