TNT's Identity 4.0 Prioritizes and Protects Critical Assets, and Proves IT Policy Compliance

(July 23, 2007)-- Trusted Network Technologies, introduced Identity 4.0, a new offering that protects critical information assets with the same level of granular controls, automated alerts and strict policies that companies use to protect physical and financial assets. Running on TNT’s family of network security appliances, the solution assigns unique and unalterable identity to all users, machines and critical information assets to create a truly identity-enabled network.

Identity 4.0 controls and audits every inbound and outbound network action—satisfying boardrooms’ and auditors’ data security and compliance demands.

“The failure to protect from internal threats is the single biggest factor to prevent breaches of organizations’ information assets. More than 50 million user records have been compromised from insider breaches alone, because so few organizations have internal network visibility,” said Wain Kellum, TNT’s president and CEO. “Identity 4.0 gives enterprises this visibility with unprecedented abilities to control and audit every single network connection.”

Until now, corporate managers—hamstrung by perimeter-based security tools—have been unable to pinpoint where high-value information assets reside, and how to safeguard them. TNT’s identity-enabled network secures the full data lifecycle with a three-step framework that incorporates the newest features of the Identity appliance:

Prioritize: TNT discovers and prioritizes critical information assets, including servers and applications, and allows users to rename them in plain language for their unique configurations.
Protect: Identity 4.0 approves or denies all network actions with fine-grained controls, which now include time-of-day for specific business hours, and outbound controls. These are especially valuable to isolate and repair servers compromised by botnets – systems controlled by hackers to silently steal information, send spam or perform other tasks undetected.
Prove: the new appliance incorporates enhanced reporting and network visibility, providing both a real-time operational snapshot of all network activities and drill-down views of specific access of critical information assets. Identity 4.0 comes with both an array of pre-configured reports as well as with customized reporting capabilities.
This control and insight thwarts unauthorized insider and external risks, and addresses complex compliance mandates such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).

“As the worldwide leader in recovery auditing, our requirements for information protection and compliance leave no room for compromise,” said Dave Schroeder, Chief Information Officer (CIO), PRG-Schultz International, Inc. “TNT Identity 4.0 exceeds our expectations and delivers functionality that traditional security solutions can't match. It’s all about trust. That’s what our customers expect of us and that’s what we get from TNT.”

Many organizations, including Fortune 10 companies, financial institutions, universities and government agencies, rely on TNT’s solution to mitigate costly data breaches, ensure that all network activity and access correlate to approved IT policy, and meet their regulatory compliance mandates. Identity 4.0 automates IT policy creation and enforcement, including proactive alerting and blocking of unauthorized and suspicious activity. Its reporting capabilities satisfy business executives and auditors alike, providing irrefutable evidence of all actions and policy violations.
