Vericept Demonstrates Commitment to Privacy and Compliance Through IAPP Certification

Vericept Corporation, provider of data loss prevention solutions to maintain compliance, defend customer data and protect intellectual property, today announced that more than 30 Vericept employees in the areas of sales and technical support have earned their Certified Information Privacy Professionals (CIPP) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). The CIPP credential will strengthen Vericept's efforts to provide customers and prospects with a thorough understanding of privacy and compliance regulations related to the deployment of a Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solution.

Founded in 2000, the IAPP is the world's largest association of privacy professionals and was established to define, promote and improve the privacy profession globally. The IAPP is committed to providing a forum for privacy professionals to share best practices, track trends, advance privacy management issues, standardize the designations for privacy professionals, and provide education and guidance in the field of privacy. The IAPP has certified more than 1,500 privacy professionals since the program's inception in 2004.

"With more than 30 employees designated as CIPPs, Vericept has made a strong commitment to CIPP certification in a single effort," said Trevor Hughes, Executive Director of IAPP. "This initiative clearly demonstrates Vericept's ability to recognize the importance and value in understanding privacy requirements when assisting organizations looking to deploy a Data Loss Prevention solution and we applaud them for their efforts. We hope other companies will follow Vericept's leadership in recognizing the value the CIPP brings to an organization's commitment to privacy protection."

The Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) is the core IAPP privacy certification. The CIPP stresses the definitions, concepts and applications of U.S. and international privacy laws and information management practices as well as the privacy implications of emerging technologies. This includes HIPAA, COPPA, GLBA, APEC principles, OECD guidelines, EU Directive, employee records management, workplace monitoring, contingency planning, incident handling, PII, Web forms, cookie files, Spyware, spam and other key items.

"One of our primary business initiatives is helping enterprise organizations successfully deploy a Data Loss Prevention solution that assists them in fostering the responsible use of their sensitive, corporate data," said Dave Parkinson, President and CEO of Vericept Corporation. "As the market leader, it is imperative that we set the industry standard for demonstrating a strong understanding of privacy and compliance when assisting organizations in deploying a DLP solution."
