New Low-cost Options for Secure, Environmentally Sound Disposal of IT Equipment Now Available to CompTIA Members
(Oct 18, 2007)-- The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) announced the availability of a low-cost technology equipment recycling program for its members. The new member benefit is available through AnythingIT, a pioneer in providing IT asset disposition solutions.
AnythingIT’s RecycleTomorrow service provides a secure, environmentally friendly trade-in and asset disposal option at any point during a product's lifecycle. Resellers and solution providers can use the program to facilitate new sales by giving customers and prospects a way to generate capital for purchases while ensuring secure, eco-friendly disposal of existing desktop or notebook PCs, regardless of manufacturer.
“This innovative program addresses two important problems,” said John Venator, president and chief executive officer. “First, it offers a solution for disposing of computers with sensitive, private information. Second, it provides an environmentally-sound method for the re-use or recycling of computers. I’m certain that many CompTIA members will take advantage of AnythingIT’s RecycleTomorrow service.”
“Our RecycleTomorrow solution makes budgeting dollars for the retirement of technology an obsolete practice,” said AnythingIT President Dave Bernstein. “Through CompTIA and RecycleTomorrow, customers no longer have to dedicate resources to ensure they are in compliance with the nation’s numerous e-waste regulations. With RecycleTomorrow, that can be decided at the point of purchase before hardware even arrives on site. Sold very much like an extended service contract, RecycleTomorrow can be added to any new equipment sale or existing service contract.”
When a customer no longer has use for a computer or other equipment, AnythingIT assumes ownership of the hardware for disposal. For a nominal fee, AnythingIT will ensure all sensitive data has been removed from hard drives and other storage media in accordance with data protection and privacy regulations mandated by legislation such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). In fact, AnythingIT's data removal processing centers meet the strict security requirements of the United States Department of Defense.
