First Advantage Corporation Deploys PGP Encryption Solution for Secure Communications

(Oct 18, 2007)-- PGP Corporation announced that First Advantage Corporation, provider of risk mitigation and business solutions, has deployed a PGP solution that will enable the company and its more than 4,700 employees to comprehensively protect its corporate and customer information while complying with stringent business and regulatory requirements. The solution comprises PGP Whole Disk Encryption, PGP NetShare, PGP Desktop Email, PGP Universal Gateway Email, and PGP Universal Server.

First Advantage offers a broad range of business services, a number of which involve the collection and distribution of sensitive data. First Advantage initiated a strategy to protect the data it handles with encryption to provide customer assurance that its data is securely managed as well as comply with regulatory requirements related to data management such as Gramm-Leach-Bliley, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Sarbanes-Oxley, and state legislation.

"Encryption addresses data at rest, data in motion and anything in between. When we kicked off our encryption initiative, we wanted to take a holistic approach and look at all the different components from a business perspective," says Kam Golpariani, director of security operations at First Advantage. "In selecting PGP Corporation, we're able to incorporate network file encryption, secure e-mail and laptop encryption-and centrally manage everything through granular policies set on PGP Universal Server. Working with PGP(R) Professional Services, our implementation has been smooth and on schedule."

The PGP(R) Encryption Platform, the underlying architecture that manages users, keys, policies and provisioning, is deployed with the first PGP application, a significant benefit for customers with phased deployment plans, such as First Advantage. The company launched its encryption initiative by securing its laptops and desktops with the award-winning PGP Whole Disk Encryption. With PGP Desktop Email, First Advantage has encrypted email at the individual client level. PGP Universal Gateway Email helps First Advantage enjoy secure communication with business partners and customers.

Golpariani added, "PGP NetShare was the icing on the cake for us. We can leverage this solution for confidential communications that involve sensitive topics, such as mergers and acquisitions or financial reporting discussions among senior management."

After First Advantage completes its current deployment, Golpariani will decide whether to expand the solutions to other locations or other users. Thanks to the extensibility of the PGP Encryption Platform architecture, the security director is also considering whether to add PGP Support Package for BlackBerry, which provides email encryption for handheld users, to the current line of PGP solutions.
