Configuresoft Delivers Continuous Compliance for Smurfit Kappa

(July 02, 2008)-- Configuresoft, the world's leading enterprise server configuration management company, announced that Smurfit Kappa Group, a world leader in paper-based packaging, has selected Configuresoft’s Enterprise Configuration Manager (ECM) to enable cross-platform continuous compliance to meet the company’s fiscal deadlines.

“We wanted to be able to implement a solution that would ensure compliance automation,” said Johan Kroone, vice president of information systems at Smurfit Kappa Group. “ECM’s enterprise visibility, ease-of-use, and out-of-the-box templates were unmatched by anything else offered in the market.”

By using ECM, Smurfit Kappa is able to collect the most detailed, critical configuration data from every Windows and UNIX workstation and server on the network. ECM provides comprehensive data collection and auditing capability, consolidating the information in a configuration management database (CMDB) for immediate access, analysis and reporting—which are essential in maintaining compliance. By focusing on proper internal controls and auditing, Smurfit Kappa not only conducts the required due diligence to comply with the regulations, but more importantly, maintains better performance in the long run.

A key element in Smurfit Kappa’s selection of Configuresoft was the Company’s Center for Policy & Compliance (CP&C), which delivered toolkits and detailed technical controls to speed compliance for a variety of regulatory and operational standards, ranging from IS017799, CobiT and NIST to GLBA, and Sarbanes-Oxley. CP&C toolkits greatly accelerated the deployment and adoption of a continuous compliance solution.

“Configuresoft’s unique combination of automation and readymade compliance toolkits greatly accelerated compliance for servers across a wide variety of regulatory and operational standards,” said Andrew Bird, vice president of Configuresoft. “This ensures the organization is in a state of continuous compliance delivering clean IT across the enterprise which keeps the auditors’ teeth from biting.”
