Organizations Now View Information Security, Compliance, and Classification As One Problem Deserving One Solution

(Sept 29, 2008)-- 2008 has been the year in which the lines between organizational initiatives for information management and information security began to merge and the implications for storage, security and compliance executives became significant. Gijo Mathew, VP of Security Solutions for Orchestria, the proven leader in Information Protection and Control, notes that the convergence of managing security risks, adhering to compliance/legal obligations, and classifying information has been driven by more effective IT Governance. This convergence requires organizations to better understand and control the information itself, while supporting existing business operations.

"Information management and information security initiatives share common requirements," said Mathew. "We often see the same information is subject to information security and compliance related requirements, as well as classification obligations. We are now beginning to see organizations take steps to implement integrated solutions. The next 12-18 months will see more corporations beginning this integration because traditional solutions do not adequately mitigate information-centric security risks and compliance requirements or provide effective information management."

Orchestria's Information Protection and Control platform, Orchestria 6, is an integrated suite of products for data loss prevention, messaging compliance, and information classification. Orchestria 6 addresses organizations' need for a solution that successfully addresses the converging obligations of security, compliance control and information management objectives.

"As companies come to terms with the reality that data loss and information misuse will continue unabated despite investments in traditional security measures, they must seek ways to lower their exposure by implementing a strategic and integrated approach." said Bo Manning, Orchestria's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Traditional approaches to security will need to be augmented in a world where transparency, new collaboration tools and more sophisticated attacks prevail. Orchestria's approach provides organizations with an integrated suite of technologies and policies that cover all risk points within the enterprise. More importantly, this allows companies to focus additional resources on obtaining the most value from the information, rather than having to worry about the protection and control of information."
