Varaha Delivers Industry's First Secure Enterprise FMC Solution for Multiple Access, Voice Adaptive Mobile Communications
(Oct 29, 2007)-- Varaha Systems announced that the company's uMobilityVPN product is available and delivers breakthrough technology enabling multiple-access, voice adaptive secure communications for smartphones. The need for multiple access solutions in security-conscious enterprises is driven by usability, regardless of location or network type. Varaha's uMobilityVPN provides secure connectivity over multiple access technologies such as GPRS, EVDO or UMTS as well as Wi-Fi and future networks such as Wi-MAX. uMobilityVPN is capable of not just supporting voice but adapting to the mix of voice and data applications giving voice both the priority and the traffic characteristics for toll voice quality.
"uMobilityVPN provides mobile workers with the security and voice quality with the ease of use with features such as autoconnect making security integral to enterprise mobility." said Prasad Govindarajan, chief technology officer of Varaha Systems. "In addition, the product works with the existing infrastructure that the IT team knows intimately without the need for extra support and maintenance; thereby making enterprise applications available for smartphones at no additional cost of ownership."
Though different approaches exist to provide security, IPSec VPN Security is necessary for multi-access communications which is the reason it has been adopted by industry standards such as 3GPP as well as all other security-minded enterprises. For example, the United States government Air Force AF 33-202 and HIPAA standards also specify IPSec VPN. When voice is included with data, IPSec VPN is the preferred security mechanism. This standard has been widely accepted in industries such as wireless, military and healthcare because it eliminates the need for pinholes and other machinations that would otherwise compromise existing security policies. Varaha utilizes the industry leading Certicom Security Builder IPSec toolkit in its uMobilityVPN client.
"Varaha's uMobility delivers a unique, highly secure, user-friendly solution for mobile communications through differentiated multi-access and voice adaptability," said Rick Pitz, senior product manager for Certicom.
uMobilityVPN is the security building block of Varaha's comprehensive uMobility solution portfolio. uMobilityVPN, in concert with uMobility Mobile Multimedia eliminates breaks during secure access for enterprise applications while moving across multiple access networks. The user experiences ease of single sign-on and always connected mobile desktop services. Similarly, voice adaptive uMobilityVPN for GlobalTalk extends enterprise voice and deskset features to smartphones securely. Combined deskset and desktop features of the comprehensive uMobility product suite deliver the mobile desk with global reach.
