Fiserv Health Receives URAC HIPAA Privacy and Security Accreditations

(Jan 26, 2008)-- Fiserv Health, a business unit of UnitedHealthcare, announced that it has been awarded HIPAA Privacy and Security Accreditations from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry. URAC's HIPAA Privacy and Security Accreditation Programs enable health care organizations to display a commitment to fair information
practices and demonstrate that they have taken the necessary steps to protect health information privacy in accordance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule.

"Fiserv Health is honored to receive HIPAA Privacy and Security Accreditation from an organization as highly regarded as URAC," said Jay Anliker, president for Fiserv Health. "We understand the impact of privacy and security issues on every function of business operations. We are committed to providing the best administrative services possible to our customers and our adherence with URAC's high standards--which set the bar for our industry--reinforces that commitment to excellence."

"By applying for and receiving HIPAA Privacy and Security Accreditation, Fiserv Health has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care," said Alan P. Spielman, URAC president and CEO. "Quality health care is crucial to our nation's welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards."
