Medlink International to Sponsor First Annual Legislative Health Forum

(March 04, 2008)-- MedLink International announced that it is the corporate sponsor of the first Annual Legislative Health Forum, an event of the Medical Society of the State of NY and the Bronx County Medical Society. The forum's goal is to discuss and inform New York State Legislators of the concerns of both the community of consumers and of healthcare providers and explore ways to improve the quality of healthcare in the Bronx. The forum is scheduled for 8AM to 12 Noon on Friday, February 29, 2008.

"It is our desire to come together in a cooperative forum and seek ways to provide the highest quality of Healthcare for our Community by Healthcare providers," said Diane Miller, Executive Director of The Bronx County Medical Society. "We want to ensure we have a system that recognizes the needs of our community at all levels. A system that addresses these needs and implements solutions that are culturally and economically responsible and respects the rights of all the stakeholders."

The forum will feature presentations by community advocacy and consumer representatives, Medical Society and practicing physicians and other healthcare providers. The agenda includes a discussion on Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) and the proposed merger and authorization of HIP and GHI from non-profit to for profit investor driven status. The forum will also look at medical mal-practice reform legislation and Governor Spitzer's state budget as it relates to healthcare.
