HIPAA NewsNebraska Methodist Hospital Improves Heart Health Protocols Using SciHealth(Dec 11, 2008)-- Nebraska Methodist Hospital began using SciHealth's Insight to track compliance of core CMS Heart Failure quality measures including: discharge instructions, evaluation of left ventricular function, ACE/ARB of left ventricular systolic dysfunction and smoking cessation. As a result of their efforts, beginning in 2004, Methodist improved their compliance of key measures by 82% -- beginning with a compliance rate of 17.2% and finishing at 100% by August 2008. The rises in these scores highlight Methodist's commitment to improving heart health. CMS core measures have a direct impact on decreased mortality rates and decreased readmission rates for Heart Failure patients. "We're delighted at the results our teams posted around Heart Failure initiatives. We remain committed to improving patient outcomes and having a focus on important indicators that help our teams pinpoint areas of improvement," said Bev Johnson, Methodist Hospital Service Executive. "SciHealth's Insight is an easy way for us to keep our eye on performance and affect positive change through evidence based interventions -- the results speak for themselves." Bill Leander, SciHealth's CEO, commented, "Nebraska Methodist provides a great example of just how our solution can be used to help target performance improvements for a specific initiative, such as heart health. Their teams work very hard and their resulting gains are remarkable. It is little wonder they are a national leader. We are very pleased to help measure and manage their performance."
