Emergisoft's EmergisoftED Version 5.1 Is CCHIT Certified (R) 08 Emergency Department EHR

(Dec 17, 2008)-- Emergisoft Corporation has announced the release of EmergisoftED's latest version, 5.1, complete with new features designed to improve patient safety and to streamline clinical workflow. The newest version of EmergisoftED is also a CCHIT Certified 08 Emergency Department EHR. Certified Emergency Department Information Systems (EDIS) are new products that are fully certified once their operational use at an Emergency Department has been verified. EDISs are designed to automate and streamline workflow and provide patients with more efficient and improved quality of care in the Emergency Department (ED).

The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology is a private non-profit organization recognized by the federal government as an official certification body for healthcare information technology (HIT) products. CCHIT Certification compliance criteria and its design for a Certification inspection process have been thoroughly researched, taken into account of the state of the art health IT products and available standards, and comparing Certification processes in other industries and other countries.

Emergisoft's Version 5.1 is among the first group of EDIS products to be CCHIT Certified after running 45 days at Chester River Hospital Center's Emergency Department in Chestertown, Maryland. Each feature in Version 5.1 is designed to keep all who are involved informed on every aspect of the patient, to ensure the patient's care and satisfaction, while being CCHIT Certified.

Emergisoft's emergency department software is a completely browser-based, Microsoft .NET architected application EDIS that automates each step of the patient management and patient documentation process in the Emergency Department. Implementation of EmergisoftED will empower any emergency department, regardless of size, to streamline clinical processes, ensure compliance with HIPAA and Joint Commission standards, enhance patient care and increase safety.
Joseph J. DeSilva, Emergisoft's Chief Executive Officer, said, "The CCHIT certification enhances our presence in the EDIS industry and emphasizes the quality of our product and commitment as a company to support health care standards. We are proud to be among the first group of EDIS products to be CCHIT Certified and feel that it is a great achievement."
