St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center to Utilize Clinical InfoNET System for Physicians

(Dec 18, 2008)-- St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix, announced that it is planning to use the state-of-the-art Clinical InfoNET videoconferencing system to connect specialist physicians at the hospital to referring physicians within the community. This program will include the Barrow Neurological Institute, as well as other key service lines at the hospital. With the objective of further enhancing patient care and service, the hospital selected Clinical InfoNET to increase direct face-to-face communications between the consulting physician specialists at the hospital and those physicians in the surrounding community who refer their patients to St. Joseph's.

It will also provide the hospital with an extremely convenient and effective tool to deliver educational programs, including Continuing Medical Education (CME), and provide information about techniques and procedural advances offered by the hospital. In addition to the hospital's own physicians, the outreach will involve physicians in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, with the intention of expanding throughout the state and beyond.

"We see this as an opportunity to provide even better patient care since the referring physician will have more direct access to our hospital's world-class specialist physicians," said Suzanne Pfister, vice president, external affairs at St. Joseph's.

Clinical InfoNET is owned by Scottsdale-based Clinical Information Network, Inc. whose Chairman and CEO, Peter Moriarty, commented, "Our product enables physicians to conduct onscreen face-to-face meetings, in a highly secure, HIPAA-compliant environment, where they can both see and speak with each other while concurrently viewing visual images, and even review and collaborate on case report forms."

"This state-of-the-art system," he added, "also facilitates multi-person onscreen meetings and educational sessions. In fact, it can provide a physician with access to multiple sources of clinical information, including direct access to pharmaceutical companies, if the physician so wishes."
