GreenWood, Inc. Contributes to Solvay’s Elite Plant Safety Recognition

(Feb 18, 2009)-- GreenWood, an integrated maintenance and construction solutions provider, announces their customer, Solvay Advanced Polymers, has maintained their status as a VPP Star certified plant. The select group of those who have earned this safety distinction only include companies that religiously comply with the various OSHA safety regulations and procedures, and have achieved injury and illness rates at or below the national average of their respective industries. GreenWood provides Solvay with on-going supplemental maintenance, operations support and special project resources and works with Solvay team members daily to ensure the highest safety standards are maintained in all executed work.

Solvay is a member of the Voluntary Protection Program Participants Association (VPPPA) – the premier association representing the best of the best in occupational safety, health and environmental management systems. OSHA’s VPP recognizes worksites that have achieved and are maintaining excellence in worker safety and health protection.

To promote safety awareness, Solvay routinely publishes an internal newsletter to all employees called “The Safe Zone”. This newsletter offers safety tips, updates and other important information for Solvay employees and on-site contractors such as GreenWood to use in order to maintain a hazard-free, safe and healthy work environment.

“Maintaining the VPP Star requires the work and discipline of every employee,” says Kevin Keenly, Solvay’s Plant Manager. “It takes effort on everyone’s part to continually improve in all we do to make Solvay a safe workplace. We appreciate that GreenWood is extremely safety conscious and has been instrumental in maintaining our VPP Star status.”
