New Cloakware Server Password Manager Improves Audit Reporting and Supports Compliance with FIPS
(Nov 12, 2007)-- Cloakware, the security solutions provider that makes security inseparable from software, announced the immediate availability of Cloakware Server Password Manager (CSPM) 3.3, the industry's first commercial Shared Account Password Management (SAPM) tool. CSPM allows enterprises to bolster the protection of critical data, complete identity management and compliance programs while it scales to meet the needs of even the largest companies in the most regulated markets.
CSPM 3.3 now offers further support for the Microsoft Platform, and Hardware Security Modules (HSM) in support of the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS), making it easier than ever for organizations to
improve compliance, protect confidential data, decrease system downtime and lower operating costs across the enterprise.
CSPM is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution that seamlessly integrates with multiple technology platforms across industries such as financial services, retail, federal government and in both the small- to
medium-sized and large enterprise markets to reliably streamline the privileged and application-to-application password management process. Too often, these types of passwords are all but forgotten and are rarely, if ever, changed. Such an oversight leaves organizations susceptible to failing to meet both commercial and federal compliance legislation (such as SOX, PCI, HIPAA, FISMA) that either implicitly or explicitly requires all passwords within an enterprise be managed and changed on a regular basis.
"As we assess our customers' security needs, password management continues to top the list as a critical concern," said Bud Michels, vice president, enterprise architecture solutions, Buccaneer Computer Systems.
"With CSPM 3.3 and the broader platform choices, we can quickly get customers up and running with a secure, automated password management system that meets their stringent security and compliance demands."
"Security, efficiency and compliance are three of the areas that organizations place high on their list of priorities. Without a sound password management plan, meeting these goals is nearly impossible," said David Canellos, interim president at Cloakware. "By eliminating manual updates of privileged and application-to-application passwords, companies can increase security, eliminate inefficient manual processes and improve compliance with password security mandates."
Enhancements in CSPM 3.3 build upon the success organizations around the world are currently experiencing as they deploy CSPM to improve security and reach compliance mandates.
