SailPoint's New Identity Data Quality Tool Accelerates Identity Management and Compliance Initiatives

(Nov 12, 2007)-- Identity risk management pioneer SailPoint Technologies, Inc. today introduced its identity data quality tool designed to simplify and accelerate enterprise identity management and compliance initiatives. Available in December through SailPoint Alliance Network partners as a component of their identity management implementation services, the combined offering establishes a strong baseline of consistent, reliable identity data and prepares enterprises for successful identity management deployments such as role management, access certification automation, access policy enforcement and user provisioning.

"We see many organizations stymied by bad identity data in their enterprise identity management initiatives," said Roberta J. Witty, research vice president, Gartner Inc. "Cleaning up bad data, filling in missing data and eliminating orphan accounts are critical prerequisites to successfully undertaking complex identity management projects. Moving past those tasks allows organizations to focus their efforts on matters that yield true business value like automating compliance and reducing risk."

SailPoint's identity data quality tool uses sophisticated algorithms to correlate user identities across enterprise resources and simplifies correction of failed or partially failed correlations via a user-friendly graphical interface. After establishing a reliable baseline of identity data, the tool identifies potential security risks such as terminated employees with active accounts, dormant user accounts, nonessential service and privileged user accounts, and individuals with multiple user accounts for a resource. When the tool is combined with the best practices that SailPoint Alliance Network partners bring to these initiatives, organizations can accelerate delivery and lower the costs of identity management deployments while improving the reliability and accuracy of audit, verification and risk management.

"As a consulting firm specializing in identity management, we have spent a lot of time helping clients overcome identity data cleansing problems," said Elizabeth Butwin Mann, chief marketing officer and executive vice president, Mycroft. "In most cases, this is a manual process which is painful work. We are excited to work with SailPoint on an identity data quality service offering -- their automated tool will enable us to quickly move beyond the data cleanup details to focus on solving the business and compliance issues around identity."
