Columbitech's Centralized Reporting Tool Helps to Manage Compliance Requirements for PCI, HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley
(March 26, 2008)-- Columbitech, the world’s most deployed mobile VPN provider, today announced its Management Server, a centralized reporting tool which automates audit requirements for businesses which are under pressure to meet compliance regulations, such as PCI, HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley. This allows businesses to effortlessly maintain compliance without sacrificing security by automating processes that would otherwise be labor-intensive to maintain manually – saving significant time and money.
The Columbitech Management Server administers individual VPN servers at each business location through a secure link and provides management with the information necessary for audits, such as detailed log files and audit trail histories. The system collects data from distributed business locations and manages it from one location. With one click, management can pull data at any given time. For example, they can run detailed reports showing session activity that took place in every business location and change or update passwords and license keys as necessary.
Unlike other systems, the Columbitech Management Server gathers the most detailed level of data possible while ensuring all data is secure. For example, log files containing server alerts of malicious login attempts are generated and automatically pushed to the management server – providing intrusion protection and notifying management of potential security breaches immediately, and in real-time.
This system is especially helpful for retailers. For example, PCI DSS standards now require retailers to review logs of all system components at least daily, retain audit trail histories, and change passwords quarterly. When performed manually, the logistics of these tasks present a considerable challenge to retailers. Instead of employing IT staff at thousands of retail stores to manually create, review and store log files, audit trail histories and change passwords, the Columbitech Management Server automates this complete and tedious process. This enables retailers to reduce IT labor costs, see a higher ROI and remain compliant.
“We have seen many of our customers across various industries – whether in health care or in finance – struggle to meet compliance requirements,” said Asa Holmstrom, president of Columbitech. “More specifically, several of our large customers are retailers with multiple locations and PCI compliance is a major concern for them. We saw a need for a solution that could simplify the auditing and reporting process. The Columbitech Management Server does just that, allowing them to increase efficiency and more effectively manage and meet PCI requirements.”
