Beta Version of eCipher Anywhere Free Email Security Protects Email Communications

(Sept 05,2008)-- Essential Security Software, announced the beta version of its eCipher Anywhere service, a free email security program combining security and usability for professionals who have the need for secure email communications to anyone, anywhere. The new easy-to-use version of eCipher Anywhere protects confidential email communications and works on any web-enabled device including PCs, Macintosh, iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and more. Secure email recipients do not need to download any software to view and reply to encrypted messages. eCipher enables companies of all sizes to easily secure their communications with employees, partners and customers both inside and beyond the corporate perimeter.

eCipher's strong encryption and digital signatures ensure safe transit, integrity, and authenticity of email communications and attachments. Users can securely exchange confidential email with attorneys, doctors, accountants, business partners, employees, colleagues, customers, or family members. Messages sent using eCipher Anywhere can be recalled after being sent, and cannot be forwarded to other parties.

eCipher Anywhere works in tandem with the eCipher desktop client software and offers a unique array of security and productivity features that are not found in other products. eCipher Anywhere offers users the ability to control how email recipients use emails after they receive them. Senders can use eCipher to enable additional protections including preventing emailed content from being forwarded or printed. eCipher's "delivery receipts" can track when and by whom secure messages were opened. Access is denied to anyone beyond the intended recipients. With eCipher Anywhere delivery recipients do not need to download any software to read encrypted messages.

In a June 2008 Technology Pundits article entitled Protecting eMail and Saving Your Assets, technology guru Rob Enderle wrote, "For things that should remain confidential, like notes to your attorney, I've come to conclude that a tool like eCipher could save your job or your company some day. As a result it is probably time to think about how your mail is secured enough (it probably isn't) and whether it is well past time you fixed that (it is)."

eCipher can send encrypted email through a wide array of popular email clients and services. These include MS Outlook™, Thunderbird™, Eudora™,. Gmail™, Yahoo! Mail Plus™, Comcast, AOL™ and many more. eCipher also features a Microsoft Outlook add-in, enabling businesses to securely exchange email and attachments without disrupting workflow.

eCipher integrates with Microsoft Outlook making it easy to send secure email messages. A small toolbar added to the Compose window offers access to eCipher's options. Once a user chooses "Send Secure" a number of digital rights management options control what the recipient can do with the received message. Users can preserve the integrity of email reply threads by preventing copying to the clipboard, printing, saving, or forwarding the message, and delivery receipts can be requested. When users click the regular Send button, eCipher encrypts and sends the message.

Users who prefer an email client other than Outlook must use eCipher's rich-text message editor from the program's desktop toolbar. Boxes can be checked to limit what the recipient can do with the message and to request a delivery receipt. The editor includes a spell-check option and also lets users insert pictures up to 600 by 600 pixels. eCipher sends mail by using a system's default email client. However if a user's main email goes through a Web-based account, there is an option to configure eCipher for accounts such as Gmail, AOL, and Yahoo! Mail Plus. Installation of eCipher Anywhere is quick and simple. A free, one-time download is all that is required to enable secure communications. All key exchange is handled transparently by eCipher.

For those who cannot download software, authors may use the Anywhere delivery option which allows recipients to view encrypted email over a secure web connection. Larger companies wanting to widely deploy the eCipher client from a centralized location can do so via the eCipher Corporate control panel.

eCipher is built upon Essential Security Software's patented email encryption technology platform. eCipher offers strong encryption, user ID verification and additional usage protections to ensure that emails containing sensitive business and client information comply with HIPAA, SOX, NRS 597.970 and other data safeguard legislation. eCipher allows users to establish viewing, copying, printing, saving, and forwarding permissions that remain with their email throughout its life cycle.
