SilkRoad technology Receives SAS 70 Type II Report

(Dec 18, 2008)-- SilkRoad technology, a leading provider of talent management solutions, announced they have received their completed SAS 70 Type II report. The receipt of this report confirms that SilkRoad is in compliance with SAS 70 recommended best practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of SilkRoad technology's systems and data.This completed report has become a requirement of outside vendors for most companies in the banking, healthcare, and high-tech industries. Companies in other industries are following suit as well, requiring that any organizations they work with provide proof, in the form of a SAS 70 Type II report, that they are following SAS 70 recommended best practices for protecting data.

"This voluntary audit, in which SilkRoad participated, provides our customers with the assurance that their confidential data is treated with the utmost security and integrity."

Earlier this year, SilkRoad received their SAS 70 Type I report, which describes the controls set in place to protect customers' data, as well as an auditor's opinion, on whether the controls set in place were suitably designed to achieve their objectives. The Type II report not only included SilkRoad's description of controls, but also included detailed testing of their controls over a minimum six-month period. Grant Thornton, one of the largest auditing firms in the Southeast, performed both the Type I and Type II audits.

SAS 70, or Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70, Service Organizations, is a widely recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Type II audits preformed on service organizations following the SAS 70 guidelines provide information on the effectiveness of the controls set in place to ensure the security of a customer's processed and/or hosted data.

SilkRoad technology will be participating in a SAS 70 Type II audit each year to make sure all security measures stay current, and they are consistently in compliance with SAS 70 recommended best practices.
