Basel II watchdog to tighten banks' risk management, disclosure norms

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision pledged to overhaul banks' risk management practices and improve disclosure and valuation standards as part of a series of measures to strengthen the resilience of the world's banking system. In response to the ongoing credit turmoil, the committee - which is overseeing implementation of the Basel II reforms on capital adequacy standards - said it will enhance parts of the Basel II framework.
