San Bernardino area tomato lovers should start to see their favorite fruit back on supermarket shelves and spilling out of hamburgers at fast-food restaurants in the weeks ahead. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration deemed it safe to eat plum, Roma or red round tomatoes if they were grown and harvested in a list of states that includes California. The tomatoes were taken off menus and out of stores in recent weeks following a salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 383 people.
