FDA delays blood thinner

Eli Lilly and Co. was hoping to get an answer this week, but it will have to keep waiting to see whether the Food and Drug Administration will approve its experimental blood thinner, which many analysts regard as critical for the company's near-term future. The Indianapolis drug maker said Monday that the FDA has extended the review period another three months, until Sept. 26, for the drug known as prasugrel, or its brand name, Effient.
