DMA offers HIPAA training for clergy

www.rhea.xtn.net

The Dayton Ministerial Association is working with Rhea Medical Center to provide HIPAA training and certification for clergy and lay volunteers representing churches in visitation ministries to area hospitals.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 is a federally mandated law that deals with patient privacy rights and the security of information. The act creates certain restrictions on how information related to a patient’s health, treatment and payment activities is shared. Area hospitals are working together to enact policies and procedures that are consistent in regard to HIPAA requirements.
