New EMR System Reduces Learning Curve, Simplifies Data Management

healthcare.dbusinessnews.com

Many healthcare professionals have resisted the move toward Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, and their hesitation is understandable. Although the benefits of EMR systems are substantial, the anticipated learning curve for implementation can be a deterrent. There is also a concern that an EMR system will simply shift clerical duties from the support staff to the physician. And, of course, patient privacy and HIPAA compliance are serious issues that must be considered in the handling of all medical records.

As a physician, Dr. Timothy J. Story saw the need to answer these concerns with an EMR system that is easy to learn, easy to operate, and versatile enough to meet the needs of most doctors. With that vision, he created Office Visit Complete (OVC). For more than a year, OVC has been successfully meeting the EMR needs of several healthcare practices in Indiana.

According to Dr. Story, “OVC covers every aspect of patient history, testing, medication and examination data. As a doctor myself, I value having this kind of information being instantly available whenever I need it. All the patient charts, notes and x-rays are easily accessible and logically organized, and you don’t have to be a computer wizard to use it. OVC operates with standard point-and –click interaction, simple keystroke data entry and intuitive categories. I really appreciate this kind of simplicity.”
