www.kansascity.com

An excavating company is challenging a federal agency’s findings in the death of an employee killed when a trench collapsed on him in February in the Northland.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration this summer levied fines totaling $13,650 on Eales Excavating Inc. of Excelsior Springs for seven safety violations. John W. Anderson, 51, of Excelsior Springs died Feb. 21 after he was buried while trying to escape the cave-in.
