Labor Dept. proposes fines for OSHA violations at SeverCorr site

Sixteen companies have been cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for what it says were safety and health violations at the SeverCorr steel plant construction site in Columbus.

Labor Department announced today (Thursday) that pending appeals, OSHA has proposed more than $72,000 in fines against the companies.

SeverCorr had the largest number of violations with 15 and fine at more than $24,000. OSHA cited the company for an unguarded rinse water pit, failure to prevent accidental startup of equipment during maintenance and exposing employees to hazardous chemicals.
