The search and rescue efforts are over at the collapsed garage at the Berkman Plaza II and the scene has been turned over to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The body of Willie Edwards III was recovered from the debris of the garage around 3 a.m. Dec. 8. OSHA has been on the scene since the day of the accident, Dec. 6, and will now start the forensic site investigation, said OSHA Jacksonville Area Director James Borders. The investigators will also review documents and conduct interviews.

The garage was part of the Berkman Plaza II tower under construction since 2006 on the Northbank. The six-story structure collapsed as workers were pouring concrete. Police and rescue personnel transported 14 people to local hospitals and treated nine others for minor injuries at the scene. Many of those who were hospitalized have been released, according to a release issued by Choate Construction Inc., the contractor building the project.
