Millbury Wheelabrator Earns OSHA Nod

Wheelabrator runs some of the safest workplaces in the country, according to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration .

OSHA recently re-certified Wheelabrator Millbury Inc. 's waste-to-energy plant in Millbury as a "star" of the department's voluntary protection program. The certification is for five years. Wheelabrator Millbury, a division of refuse giant Waste Management, employs about 50 people. OSHA said the company's illness and injury rates are well below average.

Seven other New England Wheelabrator sites have also earned membership to the voluntary protection program. OSHA conducts on-site reviews, tours and employee interviews to determine whether a company should be part of the protection program.
