Manager Charged with Lying to OSHA

hr.blr.com

A manager at a roofing company has been charged with obstructing an investigation into an employee death after he altered the scene of a workplace fatality.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was investigating a fatality in Rock Island, IL, in which an employee of Winter's Architectural Roofing Company of Carbon Cliff fell through a skylight and died in October 2007. When an OSHA investigator arrived there on the day of the fatality, he saw safety fall protection lines erected along the edge of the roof. But OSHA alleges that Winter's manager, and two other Winter employees, climbed onto the roof and erected the equipment after the body was removed but before OSHA arrived.
