OSHA checking site where man fell 20 feet

www.recordonline.com

The man who fell down an elevator shaft at a Middletown industrial building was expected to get out of the hospital Thursday, police said. Joseph Lefkowitz fell about 20 feet on Tuesday when the freight elevator door opened at 33 Mulberry St. and he stepped into the shaft without realizing the elevator was still above him. A pile of cardboard and trash at the base of the shaft cushioned his fall. The Middletown Fire Department rescued Lefkowitz.
