Broken pulley caused injuries in tree-cutting: OSHA investigating the incident

www.fosters.com

Police determined a broken pulley caused critical injuries to a man nearly a week ago, but the case remains open for federal and state agencies.

Police Chief Shawn Bernier said the broken pulley — or block — struck Matthew Laney, who remains in critical condition at a Maine hospital, on June 18. Sgt. Jason Lamontagne said Occupational Safety & Health Administration is also involved in the case.

Members of OSHA responded and are still investigating the matter, according to Area Director Rose Ohar, who added they have six months to complete the investigation, but will probably be done with the case within a month.
