Contractor Faces OSHA Violations

A New Britain contractor faces fines of $140,000 after receiving citations from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration for failing to protect its employees from potential falls and electrocution, the agency said Wednesday.

The violations were cited at work locations in Newington and the Danielson section of Killingly.

BMA General Contractors LLC was issued 15 citations for exposing employees to falls from scaffolds and electrocution hazards from a 240-volt power line draped across the Danielson construction site. OSHA cited the company for similar hazards in 2006 and 2007.
