Obama And Regulation

www.forbes.com

They told me if I voted for John McCain, we'd wind up with Chicago-school White House appointees who wonder if the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is unconstitutional. And, sure enough, I voted for John McCain, and we've got a nominee for head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs who has taught at the University of Chicago and who recently wrote an article entitled "Is OSHA Unconstitutional?" OK, so I'm recycling an old joke about voting for Barry Goldwater and having a half million troops in Vietnam. But Barack Obama's nomination of Cass Sunstein to head the part of the Office of Management and Budget that reviews draft regulations and the federal regulatory process tells us some things about Barack Obama, and also something about the puerile character of our national debate about "deregulation."
