OSHA steps ahead to harden combustible dust rules

Fedral regulators in a major policy shift by the new administration are moving to adopt tougher rules for controlling combustible dust in the workplace.Such dust was blamed for the 2003 explosion at CTA Acoustics in Corbin, Ky., that killed seven and injured 37.Since 1980 more than 130 people have been killed and more than 780 injured in combustible dust accidents, including a blast last year at an Imperial Sugar Co. plant in Georgia that killed 14 people.
