Wal-Mart Stores Cited by OSHA in trampling death

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for inadequate crowd management after investigating the death of an employee who was trampled in a Valley Stream store during a Black Friday event in November is cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The federal agency, part of the U.S. Department of Labor, said in a news release that its inspection "found that the store's employees were exposed to being crushed by the crowd due to the store's failure to implement reasonable and effective crowd management principles."The OSHA citation carries a proposed fine of $7,000, the maximum amount for a serious violation. Wal-Mart has 15 days from the receipt of the citation to comply, hold an informal conference with the federal agency or contest the citation.
