The results of one of Active Reasoning Inc.'s recent studies suggest a discrepancy exists between theory and practice when it comes to compliance with policies around IT infrastructure.Much attention has been paid over the last few years, especially after the passage of Sarbanes-Oxley, to IT corporate governance and establishing policies that are driven by such regulations and the controls they stipulate, said Andrew Lochart, vice president of marketing for the San Mateo, Calif.-based IT governance automation solutions provider. "IT departments are realizing the benefits of having a more mature, process-oriented approach" to compliance, leading to increased popularity of best practices found in standards such as ITIL and COBIT.
