There are plenty more discussions of bloated salaries to be had in 2008. Just expect the light to be scattered a bit, also illuminating the importance of having a solid back-up for the chief's job, and employing leaders who are skilled--or just "lucky" in taking risks.

Corporate compliance chatter will continue to flood the airwaves next year, too. Expect plenty of Sarbanes-Oxley references, until everyone, large and small, learns to play by the rules.
