Audit: Update ethics policy

A Palo Alto city employee with a question about ethics might have to research nine policies, two municipal code sections, three merit system rules and 12 state government code sections to find an answer, City Auditor Sharon Erickson said in a report released Thursday.

To streamline the proliferation of city and state rules and regulations, Palo Alto should create a formal ethics policy for its public employees, Erickson suggested in the audit of employee ethics policies.
