Finjan’s Malicious Code Research Center (MCRC) is dedicated to the research and detection of web threats. MCRC’s goal is to stay steps ahead of hackers attempting to exploit computer platforms and technologies, in order to protect businesses and organizations from the next threat or type of malware to be developed. MCRC specializes in the detection of dangerous vulnerabilities that could be exploited for malicious attacks. Finjan shares these research efforts with many of the world’s leading software vendors, with which Finjan closely cooperates in order to patch their security holes.
This report describes the current trends and findings in the web security sector during Q4 2006, as reflected in MCRC’s ongoing research activities. The report includes “in the wild” examples of malicious code, as well as suggestions as to how companies can protect themselves from these threats.
