Preventing Insider Threat with Identity Compliance

SailPoint Technologies

Sponsored by SailPoint Technologies, Ponemon Institute independently conducted this inaugural study on identity compliance to better understand how business and government organizations are ensuring correct identity and access management (IAM) rights within their enterprises. Our study queried a national sample of respondents who are employed in corporate information technology (IT) departments within U.S.-based business or governmental organizations.
Our survey focused on five key issues:
1. How important is identity compliance according to IT security practitioners?
2. Who is responsible for achieving identity and access management compliance?
3. How is identity compliance achieved within complex organizations?
4. What are the critical priorities that drive identity compliance initiatives?
5. What are the barriers to successfully implementing identity compliance methods?
Our survey of 627 IT security professionals is a highly experienced group with, on average, more than 12 years of overall business experience and more than eight years of experience in the IT security field. 68% of the respondents hold manager, director, vice president, or senior executive titles. Over 64% of respondents said their organizations have implemented an identity and access management solution within all or part of their organization’s IT compliance infrastructure.
