When it comes to meeting for patient information privacy and confidentiality, distribution of standard production reports may be one of the most overlooked and vulnerable areas HCO's face. As of April 2001, less than a third of HCO's had conducted a formal assessment of the activities and systems that need to be changed to achieve compliance with HIPAA EDI and security standards. Only 23 percent had begun assessing their effects of HIPAA Privacy rule of information handling procedures.
